CHILD PROTECTION AND SAFEGUARDING

The club shall operate a policy for safeguarding children which will ensure a duty of care to all members of Old Down Cricket Club, by adopting the ECB ‘Safe Hands - Cricket Policy for Safeguarding Children' and any future versions of the policy.  The club will also adopt and implement the ‘Old Down Cricket Club Safeguarding Policy Statement' as required by all ECB affiliated clubs.

Our Junior Team managers will be CRB checked and committed to adhering to the ECB Coaches Code of Conduct .

We aim to provide a safe, positive and fun cricket experience for children but cricket is an energetic sport played with a hardball, so occasionally accidents and injuries can occur. Should your child be hurt whilst participating in cricket at ODCC the session leader will complete an accident report form which you will be asked to sign and a copy provided to the Club Child Protection Officer. A copy of the accident form can be downloaded here.

We have also published guidelines for dealing with an accident or incident . These include details of and directions to the nearest doctors surgery and A&E. You can expect your coach to be familiar with these guidelines.
